この度、ニュープロジェクト「tricotX」を始動します。このプロジェクトは音楽の在り方を再定義し、tricotが今現在鳴らしている音楽をフレッシュに届けようとするものです。そして本日5/25に、この5月にスタジオで制作した楽曲のデモ音源 ”260525_samurai” を、配信開始しました。

なお、このデモ音源は「tricotX」という、プロジェクト名と同名のアーティスト名義でリリースされています。このプロジェクトでは今後も、その時tricotが鳴らしている音楽を、配信やYouTubeなどでリアルタイムに近い形でリリースしていく予定です。


以下、このプロジェクトに関するステイトメントとなります。

「音楽メディア “tricot” をリリースする」。この考えが、当プロジェクト「tricotX」の礎となっています。

これまでのtricotがそうであったように、現代の音楽業界に身を置いて音楽作品を発表するというのは、ある程度決まった循環の中で成り立っています。それは大体が「曲作り→レコーディング→リリース→ライブ」の繰り返しといったものです。

また、もう一つの観点に、その制作した音楽を固定し、リリースする「メディア」の存在があります。これは、「レコード→カセット→CDやMD→配信」と変化をし、更にはラジオ、TV、インターネットという箱の変化もあります。このように、音楽の在り方がその時々のメディアに依存し、変化し続けることによって、人々が音楽を享受する形、そしてその価値までもが大きく揺さぶられ、変化してきました。例えば、アルバム一枚を享受する深度や経済的価値は、昔と今では大きく変わっています。そしてそれは、アーティストが音楽を生み出す姿勢にも変化をきたしているはずです。

そこでtricotの音楽は、そのシステムやメディアに呑み込まれることなく、主体的に音楽を発信していく形を模索します。曲作りをして、一旦の完成系を作ってからレコーディングし、それをリリースするのではなく、この「tricotX」では、今現在、tricotが鳴らしている音楽を再生する、ということに近づけていこうと思います。つまり、冒頭の考えに戻りますが、tricot自身をメディアになぞらえて、音楽メディアとしての”tricot”を再生してもらおう、ということです。

まずやってみる形として、スタジオに入って音を鳴らしている様子を録音し、それを配信していきます。それが今回の”260525_samurai”になります。これは完成系ではなく、今月頭にスタジオに入ってバンドで鳴らした曲のタネです。今後はYouTubeなどでも、スタジオでの音源を随時アップすることを考えています。

今後もこの実験は、進行しながら様々な形に変化していくかもしれません。また、どこかで「tricotX」の楽曲が「tricot」の作品として進化し、発表されるフェーズもあるでしょう。音楽の在り方や価値を再定義し、それがアーティスト自身の創造性にもどのように影響していくか。それにはその音楽を享受してくださる受け手の皆様の反応があって、完結するものです。ぜひその輪に入って、一緒にこの実験を楽しみ、完成させていけたらと考えております。

This demo has been released under the artist name “tricotX”, which shares its name with the project itself. We plan to continue releasing the music tricot is creating in the moment through streaming platforms, YouTube, and other channels in a format that feels as close to real time as possible.


Below is a statement regarding the project.

The project of “tricotX” is based on the idea of “releasing tricot itself as a music media”.

Like many artists working within the modern music industry, tricot’s music has existed within a familiar cycle: writing songs, recording them, releasing them, and performing them live. Alongside this cycle, there has always been the existence of “media” — the formats through which music is fixed, distributed, and experienced. These formats have continuously evolved, from vinyl, cassette tapes, CDs to streaming platforms, while the surrounding platforms themselves have shifted from radio, television to the internet.

As these forms of media evolve, the way people experience music — and even the value placed upon it — changes dramatically. For example, the depth of engagement and economic value associated with listening to a full album today is vastly different from what it once was. These shifts inevitably influence the way artists create music as well.

With tricotX, we want to explore a way of creating and sharing music that does not simply become absorbed into those existing systems and formats. Rather than completing song writing, recording polished versions, and releasing them afterward, this project seeks to present the music tricot is actively making and playing right now.

In other words, returning to the concept mentioned at the beginning: we want tricot itself to function as a form of media - a living music medium that audiences can directly experience.

As an initial approach, we will record the sounds and performances happening in the rehearsal studio and release them as they are. “260525_samurai” is the first example of this process. It is not intended as a finished product, but rather as a seed - a piece of music born from what the band played together in the studio earlier this month. We are also considering uploading more studio recordings to YouTube and other platforms on an ongoing basis.

This experiment may continue evolving into many different forms as it progresses. At some point, music originating from “tricotX” may further develop into official releases under “tricot” itself.

We hope to redefine the nature and value of music, while also exploring how that process may influence the creativity of the artists themselves. But this experiment can only be completed through the reactions and participation of the listeners who experience the music with us.
